In the end, the audio chosen and designed in films, more specifically within remakes of foreign horror film, can be a result from various factors.

 

Overall, many cultural factors affect the sound design, whether consciously or unconsciously. As an aspect that can substantially alter a film’s effect on the audience, sound plays a pivotal role within the horror genre.

 

Yet the sound design in remade foreign films for an American audience has little research over it. If scholars in varying disciplines- from film production, to music theory, to anthropology- come together, they may find that remade Asian-horror films offer an amazing amount of insight into their own fields and beyond.
